Here are the basic rules for the Punters Challenge. You pick a horse for each race on the card and submit your picks 5 minutes before the first race of the day.

Players receive points based on where their selection finishes in a race and the number of actual runners in the race.

For example, in a twelve-horse race:
1st position will receive 12 points,
2nd position 11 points,
3rd position 10 points, all the way down to the last position, which gets 1 point.

In a seven-horse race:
1st position will receive 7 points,
2nd position will receive 6 points,
and so on.

Bonus points are awarded for winning selections, where the Hollywoodbets Starting Price (SP) for that horse will be added to the points awarded. For instance, if the winning horse’s SP is 4/1, then an additional 5 points (4 + 1) will be added to the points earned.
In the twelve-horse race example, the winning selection would earn 17 points (12 plus 5 bonus points).

The top 20 players who accumulate the most points share R5,000 in prize money for each scheduled race meeting. The prize money distribution is as follows:

  • First place gets R2,000
  • Second place gets R1,000
  • Third place gets R500
  • Fourth place gets R250
  • Fifth to tenth place gets R125 each
  • Eleventh to twentieth place gets R50 each

If racing is stopped during a meeting for any reason, the daily prize will be prorated based on the number of races completed versus the races carded on the day, provided that a minimum of four (4) races are completed. For example, if 6 races are completed on an 8-race card, then the total prize money of R3,750 ((R5,000/8)*6) will be distributed to the top 20 players.
